Prominent radio and TV presenter, sports commentator, and entrepreneur, SureMan Ssegawa, has officially announced his intention to contest for the Mubende Municipality Parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections. This declaration confirms months of speculation regarding his political ambitions, as he has been actively engaging in community work and using the hashtag #SuremanForMubende across his platforms.

Prominent radio and TV presenter, sports commentator and entrepreneur, Ismael Ssegawa populary known as SureMan Ssegawa

Born Ismael Ssegawa on August 28, 1994, the Radio Simba sports commentator has built a strong career in the media industry over the past decade. Beyond journalism, he has made a name for himself in music, with his freestyle “Mbulamu Kitwalo” going viral on TikTok. His entrepreneurial success includes ownership of Subway Bars in Kampala and Muwomya Events, as well as organizing the popular Nva Mubende Festival.

Ssegawa’s public involvement in community development has gained attention, with recent donations of educational materials to school children in Mubende. His alignment with the National Unity Platform (NUP) is evident through his affiliations with key figures like Hon. Zaake Francis and Mathias Walukaga. His decision to run for MP under the opposition party signals his commitment to change and representation for his people.

However, the announcement has sparked mixed reactions. Some critics argue that his background in media and entertainment may not equip him with the necessary political expertise. Others, however, believe that his grassroots engagement and public influence make him a strong candidate.

Mubende Municipality has faced challenges in parliamentary representation, with previous leaders under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) failing to address pressing community issues. Ssegawa’s bid provides voters with an opportunity to evaluate new leadership options ahead of the elections.
