The Ugandan sports, media, and business communities are preparing to bid farewell to Cedric Babu Ndilima, who will be laid to rest on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at his ancestral home in Kamengo, Mpigi District. Cedric Babu, a celebrated media personality, sports administrator, and former national tennis champion, passed away on May 31, 2025, at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, following complications from a heart condition.

The week-long funeral programme began with prayers at his Kololo residence and will culminate in a requiem mass at Rubaga Cathedral on Friday, June 6, before the cortege proceeds to Kamengo for the final vigil and burial. Thursday’s main vigil and mass at Kololo will be followed by a special memorial themed “The Heart Behind The Racquet,” honoring his passion for tennis and youth empowerment.

Cedric’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief from across Uganda. He is remembered as a dynamic leader who elevated Ugandan tennis, mentored youth, and contributed to media and public service. He leaves behind a wife and three sons, and his funeral—dubbed “Final Set”—will serve as a tribute to a life lived with energy, vision, and generosity
