Mawokota North MP Hillary Kiyaga, popularly known as Dr. Hilderman, has publicly declared that he will support whoever is selected by the National Unity Platform (NUP) to contest for his parliamentary seat in the 2026 elections. This announcement comes amid speculation about his strained relationship with party president Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) and internal party dynamics.

Dr. Hilderman, who won the Mawokota North seat on the NUP ticket in 2021, emphasized his commitment to party discipline and unity. “If I don’t get the NUP ticket, I won’t be on the ballot. However, I will remain dedicated to the party’s activities, as expected of me, because I understand NUP’s vision and its future direction,” he said during a live interview on Sanyuka Television. He further stated that his primary focus is to support Bobi Wine’s presidential campaign, not to insist on his own candidacy.

This stance follows controversy over Hilderman’s silence on corruption allegations against fellow MP Mathias Mpuuga, a situation that has led to tension with some NUP supporters. Despite these challenges, Hilderman reiterated his respect for party rules and his willingness to back any candidate chosen through the party’s internal process.
