The Uganda Police force in kampala metropolitan South has responded and actively investigating two separate forms of fire outbreaks that have occurred earlier Tuesday, in different locations within the region.
One at Kakungulu Memorial School in Kibuli, Makindye Division and Entebbe Municipality headquarters , respectively.
The Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP, Luke Owoyesigire has this morning informed in a statement released, the first incident has been reported at Kakungulu Memorial School in Kibuli, Makindye Division, Kampala City as fire broke out in the boys’ dormitory, which houses around 52 students.
The Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services team swiftly responded, preventing further escalation of the fire. Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded. However, one student sustained minor injuries and has since received medical attention, he said.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, and more details will be provided as soon as they become available.
Owoyesigire however added, In a separate incident, Police at Entebbe is also investigating a fire outbreak that occurred at the Entebbe Municipality headquarters where It is alleged that, at around 3 am a metallic kiosk, belonging to Ms. Rose and used as a kitchen, caught fire.
He commended the prompt response of the Police Fire Prevention and Rescue team for containing the fire before it could spread to nearby structures.
“Despite this, significant property loss, including cooking equipment and food supplies, was recorded. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire, and further details will be communicated in due course,” he said.
Further he described that the Uganda Police Force commends the swift action of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services team in both incidents, which ensured minimal damage and loss of life, but also urged the public to continue exercising caution and to report any fire hazards immediately to the authorities.
