Renowned Ugandan motivational speaker and political activist Frank Gashumba has criticized Valentine’s Day celebrations, branding the occasion as a day for “useless people.” Speaking on a radio show on Friday, Gashumba questioned why people choose to express love only on February 14 instead of showing love every day. His blunt remarks have sparked heated debates among Ugandans.

“For a person who truly loves their partner, why would you wait for a special day like this to show your love? Love should be an everyday thing,” Gashumba argued.

His comments have resonated with many who believe that love should be celebrated daily, while others feel that Valentine’s Day provides a unique opportunity to cherish relationships. Despite the criticism, Valentine’s Day remains one of the most celebrated events globally, marked by couples exchanging gifts, flowers, and quality time together.
