The Kampala capital city authority has commended the Executive Director of the Uganda Reinsurance company and his team for extending humanitarian assistance to the people of Kiteezi, especially children trying to recover from the garbage tragedy that claimed lives of at least 30 people, while injuring the majority.
On Thursday in kampala, the finance company appeared at the KCCA headquarters, led by Mr. Ronald Musoke, the Executive Director Uganda Reinsurance with a truck full of basic necessities for mainly children and a few for adults.
“We want to see how best we can be able to help the community that was affected in Kiteezi. As a company we have acquired relief items like sanitary towels, clothes, basins and other items that we hope will benefit the people of Kiteezi, however, we hope to add more items as time goes on,”said Musoke.
Sheila Birungi Gandi, Director for Gender Community Services and Production for KCCA representing the Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka mentioned that Reinsurance company has expressed a good gesture with such a donation and was impressed by the idea of putting children at the forefront.
Birungi also appreciated the company for procuring play therapy for the children, diapers and many other items. “We have apparently had so many issues and problems at the Kiteezi emergency staged unit, you have therefore joined the majority of other donors for the people of Kiteezi and this is the spark of the partnership between you and KCCA,” she said.
