Renowned media personality and politician Mosh Ssendi, popularly known as Mr Mosh, has officially declared his intention to run for the Makindye East Constituency parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections. Currently serving as a Lord Councilor at the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) representing Makindye, Mr Mosh believes that moving to Parliament will enable him to better serve his constituents.

Mr Mosh’s political journey began when he was elected as a KCCA Lord Councilor in 2021. During his term, he actively engaged in community development, advocating for improved service delivery in Makindye. However, he believes that key budgetary decisions affecting his people are made at the parliamentary level.

Mr Mosh’s political journey
"Money is allocated at the parliamentary level, and I want the voices of my people to be heard during budget allocations," he stated in a recent interview.

The former singer has emphasized that his move to Parliament is not just a political ambition but a commitment to ensuring that his people get their fair share of national resources.

Mr Mosh also highlighted that he had previously promised to serve only one term as a KCCA Councilor. By contesting for MP, he says he is fulfilling his commitment to seeking a higher office where he can have a greater impact.

"I promised my voters that I would serve only one term as a councilor, and I want to stand by my promise. I aim to represent them better at the parliamentary level, where key decisions are made," he affirmed.

Mr Mosh will be seeking the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket, but the race for Makindye East is expected to be highly competitive. The incumbent MP, Derrick Nyeko, is still a strong political figure in the constituency, and fellow media personality Tuff B has also expressed interest in the seat.

With NUP being the dominant party in Kampala, the battle for the party’s flag in Makindye East will be intense. The final candidate will be determined in the party primaries, expected to take place later this year.

Mr Mosh’s declaration has set the stage for what promises to be one of the most competitive parliamentary races in Kampala. As he transitions from local leadership to national politics, his ability to connect with the people and deliver on his promises will be crucial in securing the seat.
