A well-known moneylender in Seeta Bajjo, Mukono Municipality, Hamida Mutesi Nalule, 35, was brutally murdered by her client, Elvis Katabaazi, 26, over an unpaid loan of Shs 18 million. According to police and eyewitness accounts, Katabaazi had borrowed the money last year and persistently evaded repayment, leading Nalule to consider involving law enforcement or legal action.

On June 4, 2025, Katabaazi lured Nalule under the pretense of resolving the debt in the presence of the area LC I chairperson. They drove together in Nalule’s white Toyota Fielder (registration UBR 759V) to Nabuti village, but upon finding the chairperson absent, Katabaazi convinced Nalule to wait. Later, he suggested another location, leading them to a secluded spot on Nyenje road. There, Katabaazi attacked Nalule with a machete, stabbing her multiple times in the neck and chest
Nalule managed to stagger out of the vehicle, screaming for help, but collapsed and died about 10 meters from her car. Locals, alerted by her cries, apprehended Katabaazi as he attempted to flee. The police recovered the murder weapon and found Katabaazi’s national ID in the blood-stained car. He is currently detained at Mukono Central Police Station on murder charges, and the deceased’s body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for post-mortem examination.
