Media personality and TikTok journalist Janie Namukasa has formally apologized to Ugandan music icon Jose Chameleon after previously making defamatory statements against him. The apology follows legal action initiated by Chameleon, who demanded both financial compensation and a retraction of the allegations.

Namukasa had claimed in a widely circulated TikTok video that Chameleon was arrested in the U.S. for allegedly assaulting his caretaker, Juliet Zawedde. Despite Chameleon’s public denial, she initially stood by her claims. However, legal threats compelled her to retract the statements.

In her apology, Namukasa admitted her sources had personal issues with Chameleon and that her information was false. She expressed regret and wished Chameleon good health ahead of his reported surgery.

It remains uncertain whether Chameleon will accept the apology or pursue further legal action.
