Ugandan music sensation Winnie Nwagi has delivered a heartfelt message to fellow female artists, calling on them to stop hiding their age and start celebrating it instead. Speaking openly about an issue many shy away from, the Matala hitmaker didn’t mince words.
"What is wrong with ageing? It is a blessing, and if you do not want to age, you should die," Nwagi boldly stated.

At 35 years old, Nwagi has faced her share of criticism over her age, but she refuses to let society’s ageist mindset define her. Instead, she sees ageing as an achievement, a journey worth celebrating rather than hiding.
She pointed out that many women in the music industry feel pressured to remain eternally young to stay relevant. Birthdays go uncelebrated, and age becomes a taboo subject the moment they hit 30.
"I feel bad when I see musicians too scared to speak about their age. Many of them, when they get to 30, they stop celebrating birthdays," Nwagi said.
Nwagi’s message is a powerful reminder that growing older is not just natural — it’s beautiful. She urges female artists not to run from their birthdays but to embrace them proudly, showing that success doesn’t come with an expiry date.
