Cindy says promoters must clear her payment before she touches the stage.

The Ugandan singer revealed that she no longer performs on promises or pending balances, explaining that years in the entertainment business forced her to become stricter about money and agreements.

While appearing on NBS After 5, she admitted that she used to perform before receiving full payment, but those days are now behind her.

I can never sing on stage before zero balance. I used to do it back in the day, but right now, respectfully, I decline singing. And I will respectfully apologise to my fans, “I am sorry, but I am not going to sing.” The reason why I do this is because I know that the only thing I can use to fight is my pay, and nothing else.

For Cindy, money disputes between artistes and promoters rarely end in court because both sides still need each other for future business.

That reality, she says, forces many artistes to tolerate situations they would otherwise challenge legally.

In this industry, we do not go to court with promoters because tomorrow they are the same people going to call us for gigs, so we request promoters to respect the people they want to perform because this is business.

The conversation later shifted to Spice Diana, whose recent fallout with promoters turned into a viral talking point after she carried away a speaker during a payment dispute.

Cindy believes the situation should never have escalated that far, especially considering Spice Diana’s standing in the music industry.

There was no need for Spice Diana to reach the point of carrying the speaker and embarrassing herself. Spice Diana is a very respectable artiste.
