Singer Omega 256 has pushed back against claims made by Cindy Sanyu regarding the ownership and creation of their hit collaboration, “See You Tonight.”
The dispute resurfaced after Cindy claimed in a recent interview that she financed the project, sourced the songwriter, paid for production, and later allowed Omega to upload the song on her YouTube channel.
Omega, however, says that version of events leaves out key details about how the song came together.
In her response, the singer expressed disappointment that someone she still considers a mentor and friend would make what she described as misleading claims about a project they built together.
According to Omega, Cindy’s team first shared a demo of the song, but her management felt it needed a stronger Runyankole identity to connect with her audience.
Her team subsequently hired a writer to adapt parts of the track, creating the cultural blend that eventually became one of the song’s defining features.

The disagreement does not stop at the songwriting process.
Omega also rejected claims that Cindy simply allowed her to upload the song as a favor. She says discussions about ownership only began after both sides completed the project.
According to the singer, Cindy’s management proposed that Omega’s team take charge of distribution and release, with ownership and upload rights tied to that investment.
She further maintains that her camp contributed financially to the project, including paying for the Runyankole adaptation, covering part of the post-production work, and contributing toward the music video.
For that reason, Omega argues it is inaccurate to portray the song as a project funded entirely by Cindy’s side.

The singer has since challenged Cindy to back up her claims with proof of payment, insisting that documentation should settle the matter.
Despite the disagreement, Omega stopped short of attacking Cindy personally. Instead, she acknowledged the singer’s influence on her career and reiterated the respect she continues to have for her as a senior artiste.
