Nuwagaba Agnes, a resident of Kabaga, Nangabo in Wakiso District, is reportedly being sought by authorities as investigations into alleged LGBTQ-related activities continue.
According to reports, Nuwagaba has not been seen for some time and is believed to have left Uganda. Sources claim that security agencies are working with authorities in neighboring countries as part of efforts to establish her whereabouts.
Authorities allege that Nuwagaba was involved in activities linked to LGBTQ advocacy and the recruitment of young people into LGBTQ groups. These allegations have not been independently verified, and Nuwagaba has previously denied being a member of the LGBTQ community.
Police records indicate that Nuwagaba was requested to report to Wakiso Police Station last year to assist with ongoing investigations. However, reports suggest that she failed to appear before investigators as requested.
Sources close to Nuwagaba maintain that she previously worked with MARPI, where she provided health education, guidance, and counseling services. They argue that her work focused on public health and access to healthcare services rather than the promotion of any particular lifestyle.
Authorities further allege that Nuwagaba had connections with organizations outside Uganda that support LGBTQ rights. Investigators claim that inquiries into these alleged links remain ongoing.
Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act has led to increased scrutiny of individuals and organizations suspected of engaging in activities considered unlawful under the legislation. Authorities say investigations into the matter are continuing.
Security officials have urged anyone with information regarding Nuwagaba’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.
