Gilbey’s Gin has officially unveiled its new campaign dubbed “Made for Real Moments,” a concept rooted in Uganda’s vibrant everyday social culture and the authentic experiences that naturally bring people together.

The campaign was announced during a press briefing held at Uganda Breweries in Luzira, where brand representatives highlighted a shift away from curated, high-end experiences toward more relatable, grassroots interactions.

At the heart of the campaign is a revival of the familiar ‘kafunda’ setting — a cornerstone of Ugandan social life known for its relaxed atmosphere and genuine conversations. By embracing these everyday spaces, Gilbey’s aims to create a platform for unfiltered engagement through a series of weekly hangouts and live podcast discussions.

The initiative will officially kick off this Friday, April 24th, with the first Gilbey’s Hangout at Old Tymerz, a popular pub in Ntinda. The event will be hosted by media personality Ronnie McVex and is expected to set the tone for a series of similar gatherings in the coming months.

According to Gilbey’s Brand Manager, Karama Raymond, the campaign is less about reinvention and more about celebrating what already exists within Ugandan communities.

“We are not trying to create something new; we are simply celebrating what already exists. The ‘kafunda’ is where real conversations happen. With this campaign, we are giving people a space to come together, speak freely, and enjoy those moments as they are,” he said.

Raymond further noted that the Gilbey’s Hangouts will be rolled out across various outlets nationwide, expanding the campaign’s reach and inclusivity.

By blending physical meetups with live podcast storytelling, Gilbey’s hopes to foster a strong sense of community, both in-person and across digital platforms, ultimately redefining how brands connect with consumers in authentic, meaningful ways.
