Ugandan artist Brian Avie has announced that he will be postponing the release of new music indefinitely due to what he describes as an unfavorable environment for the music industry in 2025.
In a statement shared on social media, Brian Avie cited multiple factors influencing his decision, including the ongoing political tensions, financial crisis and a generally unfruitful musical year. He noted that since January, many artists’ songs have not been performing well due to the uncertain economic and political climate.
This year isn’t fruitful musically. That’s why most of your songs are not doing well since January. There is too much political tension, financial crisis, which makes it a big risk to invest in music right now, he wrote.

He also acknowledged that some artists, such as Bebe Cool, had planned ahead and were able to execute successful concerts before the heightened political activities began. According to Avie, those who failed to prepare may struggle to stay relevant in the coming months as political campaigns dominate the public space.
While he did not specify when he would return to releasing music, his advice to fellow artists was to “stay smart in their line of work” to avoid financial losses.
His announcement has sparked reactions among music lovers, with some agreeing with his perspective, while others argue that true artists should keep pushing forward regardless of external factors.
