Events Promoter Nobat Twezire Released on Bail Amid Multiple Defamation Cases

Events promoter Nobat Twezire, widely known as Nobat Events, has been released on bail as investigations into multiple defamation complaints against him continue.
Nobat appeared before the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court earlier today, where the court granted him a non-cash bail of five million Ugandan shillings. As part of the bail requirements, he presented three sureties, including his mother. Each of the sureties was also bonded with a non-cash bail of five million shillings.

The promoter is currently facing a series of defamation complaints filed by some of Uganda’s most prominent musicians. In total, Nobat is battling 12 separate complaints, the majority of which have been lodged by high-profile figures in the local entertainment industry. Music star Eddy Kenzo has filed eight complaints against him, while veteran artist Jose Chameleone has submitted three. Singer Mariam Tindatine has also filed one complaint.
Nobat was initially detained at Nateete Police Station after he voluntarily reported to authorities. He had earlier requested additional time to honor police summons, citing commitments related to National Resistance Movement (NRM) campaign activities. However, upon eventually appearing to record his statement, he was taken into custody by police.
The matter remains before court as investigations and legal proceedings continue.
