Media personality Calvin The Entertainer has weighed in on the ongoing debate between Uganda’s veteran musicians and contemporary star Eddy Kenzo, urging the public to adopt a more balanced approach when comparing artists across generations.
In a strongly worded statement, Calvin criticized comparisons based solely on lifestyle and wealth, arguing that such measures fail to account for the vastly different environments in which artists from the 1990s operated.
“It’s quite unfair to compare the older generation of Ugandan artists with the new one through lifestyle or wealth lenses,” he said, emphasizing that each era came with its own unique challenges and opportunities.

He further urged audiences to consider a different perspective—one where legends such as Elly Wamala, Maddox Ssematimba, and Paul Kafeero had access to today’s digital platforms and financial resources.
